Zhenya “Z” Nalywayko first came to PEC as a Graduate Fellow in 2016, while studying environmental planning and urban design at the University of Pennsylvania’s graduate School of Design. In 2020 he returned as a full-time Program Coordinator, working to expand the Circuit Trails system and promote outdoor recreation in southeastern Pennsylvania.
A Connecticut native with family roots in the Philadelphia area, Nalywayko previously held positions with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Group Melvin Design, and Pennoni Associates, Inc., where he worked on redevelopment plans, neighborhood plans, branding and marketing, public outreach, graphic design, and conceptual design for parks and trails. As a member of the PEC Trails team, his projects include the Liberty Bell Trail in Montgomery County and the Tookany Creek Trail through Cheltenham, PA.
Nalywayko holds a B.A. in Geography and Urban Studies from Temple University and an M.C.P. in City and Regional Planning from Penn.
