Kadafi El-Kardah joined the Pennsylvania Environmental Council as Community Engagement Specialist in October 2017. Based in the Southeast Regional Office, he is responsible for supporting PEC’s work with the implementation and adoption of green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) with a focus on promoting the Philadelphia Water department’s “Green City, Clean Waters” initiative.
Kadafi is passionate about the environment and Philadelphia’s architecture. His recent work includes a survey for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) on the health of trees throughout the city, and a Pennsylvania State University renovation research project at Bartram’s Garden. In his free time, Kadafi likes to explore historic buildings throughout the city, taking pictures and learning about the history of each neighborhood. In addition to his duties at PEC, he also works with the Free Library of Philadelphia to provide homework assistance and facilitate after-school educational activities for elementary school students.
Kadafi has a B.S. in Environmental Science from La Salle University and lives in Northwest Philadelphia.
