Brett Hollern joined PEC after twenty-one years of planning, developing, and managing trails for Somerset County, PA. The primary focus of these efforts was on the Great Allegheny Passage and, more recently, the September 11th National Memorial Trail. After being hired as a planner in 1997, he took a position as Trail and Greenways Coordinator in 1999, working for the Allegheny Trail Alliance and the County of Somerset with expanded responsibilities under the Pennsylvania DCNR Circuit Rider Program. In 2004, Brett became the Trail Manager for Somerset County.

Brett graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Recreation and Park Management. He has also worked as an independent consultant on projects involving trail feasibility and development. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Allegheny Trail Alliance and the September 11th National Memorial Trail. He lives in State College with his wife Christine and their children Kate and Ben and their two dogs. While not at work, he can be found traversing the landscape by foot, ski or pedal.
