West Region

Alexandra Long

Alexandra, a born and raised Pennsylvanian, joined the PEC Trails and Recreation team in 2022. As Program Coordinator, she supports the Industrial Heartland Trail Coalition and Laurel Highlands Conservation District initiatives. Alexandra spent the better part of her education in Pittsburgh, earning a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Point Park University, and then ventured west to graduate school in Kelly, Wyoming. At the Teton Science Schools, she developed an appreciation for the interconnectedness of economy, culture, and ecology – all while exploring the trail systems of the backcountry. Alexandra received her M.S. in Environmental Science and Conservation Biology from Prescott College in May 2023.

Outside of work, Alexandra is passionate about local food systems, urban gardening, and getting involved in community climate action. Alexandra spends her Saturday mornings either at the Swissvale Farmers Market, of which she is on the Board of Directors, or at a coffee shop playing board games. She and her partner can often be found rock climbing, biking, or running along one of the area’s many trails, with their beloved dog Savannah in tow.
