Nominations Sought For Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards

PITTSBURGH—Sponsors of the Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards are seeking nominations from people and organizations who are working to improve the community.

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council will once again present up to five cash prizes of $5,000 each to winning entries that demonstrate environmental impact and benefits in protecting the environment of the region.

Any group, individual, program, company, or organization located and working in any of the following 29 Western Pennsylvania counties may submit a nomination: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington, and Westmoreland.

The awards process is open to individuals and organizations from every corner of the community, including education, nonprofit organizations, businesses and all levels of government, among others.

Nominations are due by Feb. 18, 2015. Winners will be notified in March and honored at the Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards dinner in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, May 27 at the Westin Hotel and Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh.

All nominations will be reviewed and evaluated by an independent panel of judges and award program staff.
