Pocono Forests and Waters Conservation Landscape announces 2020 Mini-Grantees
The Pocono Forests and Waters Conservation Landscape is pleased to announce the following Mini-Grantees:
Delaware Highlands Conservancy/Downtown Hawley Partnership – Hawley Trail Enhancement, Phase 2 $10,000: Improve access to Lackawaxen River Trail, expand educational outreach with signage at key visitor interception points.
Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation – Upgrading Lacawac’s Visitor Center Experience $6,600: Upgrade Lacawac Sanctuary’seducational displays at the Coulter Visitor Center.
Lackawanna College – Phase 2 Increasing Accessibility in LCEEC’s Raised Bed Garden $2,000: Increase handicap accessibility of raised bed garden at Lackawanna College Environmental Education Center to provide experiential learning opportunities for the community.
Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority – Lackawanna River Heritage Trail – The Lower 6 Miles Feasibility Study $10,000: Feasibility study of potential corridor for LHRT trail gaps north of Taylor, PA.
Lake Wallenpaupack Watershed Management District – Interpretive Trail Signage in Carlton Drake Memorial Park $5,500: Lake Wallenpaupack Watershed District will design and install interpretive signs on the Woodland Trail and Meadow Trail adjacent to Wallenpaupack Creek.
Luzerne County Transportation Authority – LCTA Routes To Trails Map and Promotion of Trail Connections $2,000: Create a bus to trail guide map and promotional campaign that highlights hiking and biking trails and recreation access points along LCTA’s public transit routes.
Natural Lands – Keep Your Community Green and Your Streams Clean $4,700: Cultivating municipal relationships during challenging times, reiterating the importance of the natural world to municipal officials with the goal of bringing them alon g a conservation continuum of taking actions to protect those areas through policies and programs.
Valley In Motion (formerly Heritage Valley Partners) – Carbondale Trailhead Mural $7,000: The Carbondale John Street Trailhead Mural will be painted on the remains of a bridge abutment of the historic New York, Ontario & Western Railway to understand, interpret, and depict the region’s cultural and natural resources.
Watershed Coalition of the Lehigh Valley – Watershed Outreach Mapping $2,200: Create watershed map and display of geographic features, unique wildlife, plant life, and historical features for the Aquashicola/Pohopoco Watershed Association, Tobyhanna Creek/ Tunkhannock Creek Watershed Association and North Pocono CARE watershed group.
Wildlands Conservancy – Thomas Darling Preserve Public Access Improvements $10,000: Provide public access improvements on the 1,500-acre Thomas Darling Preserve near Blakeslee, PA.
