PEC Urges Passage of Great Lakes Legislation

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council urges the Senate Appropriations Committee to pass House Bill 1705 (Rep. Harkins – Erie), which would approve the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact in Pennsylvania.  Pennsylvania is the last Great Lakes state to approve the Compact.

House Bill 1705 passed the state House with unanimous support earlier this year, and thanks to the ongoing support of Senator Mary Jo White and Senate Earll, passed the Senate Environmental Resources & Energy Committee in early June also with unanimous support.

The time to act on this important bill is now — PEC urges the Senate Appropriations Commmittee to advance this critical legislation for full consideration by the Senate before the summer recess.
