Emilia Crotty joined PEC in September 2021; she brings 18 years’ experience in active transportation and the built environment, specializing in program development, organizing and advocacy, coalition-building, and the implementation of municipal projects. Most recently Emilia served as Director of Community Investment at Public Health Management Corporation. Previously, Emilia was the first Executive Director of Los Angeles Walks, where she co-founded Southern California Families for Safe Streets, led the LA Vision Zero Alliance, and collaborated with communities to build power and shift culture on city streets and sidewalks. A proud resident of Queens, NY for 12 years, Emilia co-founded Bike New York’s incomparable Bicycle Education Program and was part of the small team that launched Citi Bike, North America’s largest bike sharing system.
Emilia holds a master’s degree in Community Health Education from the City University of New York Hunter School of Urban Public Health and a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology from New York University. She is a graduate of the City of Philadelphia’s Citizens Planning Institute and is a neighborhood organizer working to build a more racially, economically, and socially just Philadelphia. Emilia’s dream is that people of all ages and abilities, in every community and ZIP code, can move about safely, comfortably, conveniently, and completely free from stress.
