‘Mini-grants’ available for conservation-focused projects

A just-awarded state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant will fund conservation-focused projects in the Laurel Highlands region, according to the organization that received the grant and will administer the program.

The 2018 Laurel Highlands Conservation Assistance Grant program will use the DCNR funding to provide “mini-grants” of $1,000 to $10,000 “to projects … that support and advance the goals and objectives of the Laurel Highlands Conservation Landscape,” Pennsylvania Environmental Council officials wrote in an email this past week.

Those goals and objectives are designed “to foster conservation and stewardship of the natural and man-built environments while promoting sustainable economic development through outdoor recreation,” council officials wrote…
