WILKES-BARRE — German energy policy expert Timon Wehnert explained how his country has moved away from coal and fossil fuels toward renewable energy at a panel discussion Thursday night at Wilkes University.

The quest for cleaner energy sources will not be easy but can be accomplished in Pennsylvania, Wehnert told an audience of about 30. He was joined by a five-member panel that included representatives of environmental organizations from throughout the region…

…Panelist Lindsay Baxter, of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, said the state’s residents and officials should work toward developing renewable energy options.

“Focus on energy efficiency is a huge opportunity for our state,” she said.
