Tim Schaeffer was on the job for less than three days when I hit him with some hard questions.

He didn’t flinch.

As the new executive director with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Schaeffer know there are many tough issues to address — revenue and declining license sales top the list — but there is also promise. A life-long angler, Schaeffer now has a direct role in promoting the resource he loves.

Schaeffer took over the executive director role on Nov. 13, replacing John Arway, who recently retired. He previously served as the Director of Policy and Planning for the PFBC before taking a position with the state Department of Environmental Protection for the last 11 months. Prior to his state service, Schaeffer served in leadership roles for Audubon Pennsylvania, PA Environmental Council and PA Organization for Watersheds and Rivers…
