Because you are not going to want to miss the Wild and Scenic Film Festival, On Tour event being hosted by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) and its affiliate, the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers (POWR) in partnership with the Laurel Highland Conservation Landscape.
This year’s event will be screened in person at the Watershed Farm, the home of the Loyalhanna Watershed Association, 6 Old Lincoln Highway West Ligonier, PA, and virtually to an audience statewide. Tickets are available here.
The Wild and Scenic Film Festival is all about resilience, community, and the capacity of nature to amaze, inspire, and heal. The brand new 2022 line-up of films celebrates the beauty and wonder of our natural world and the people who endeavor to protect it for those who love to go outside and enjoy it.
Some of the films explore serious topics and questions such as how traditional knowledge can reconnect us with the land and preserve the natural world, whether we can fairly and equitably balance the conservation of nature at our national parks and the economic viability of the neighboring communities, and how to stay ahead of the threat of invasive species to our native flora and fauna. Other films present the more lighthearted and fun side of working hard and playing harder and connecting a love for great food with a love of family and camping. There are also films about successful river and watershed restoration and the people who led the charge, including a story based right here in Pennsylvania.
But above all, the films are about community, about family and friends, about coming together and sharing a passion for conservation, exploration, recreation, and stewardship.

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival was started by the watershed advocacy group, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) in 2003. The festival’s namesake is in celebration of SYRCL’s landmark victory to receive “Wild & Scenic” status for 39 miles of the South Yuba River in 1999. The international film tour brings award winning nature films to communities around the globe. The festival helps to build a network of grassroots organizations connected by a common goal of using film to inspire activism. With the support of National Partners: Peak Design, EarthJustice, MIIR, Tangled Bank Studios,and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, the festival can reach an even larger audience.
