PEC to Testify at Marcellus Shale Hearing

Harrisburg, Pa. — John Walliser, Vice President of Legal and Government Affairs, Pennsylvania Environmental Council, will testify at a hearing on water quality issues relating to the Marcellus Shale industry in Pennsylvania from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 14, at Penn State Fayette’s Eberly Campus, Williams Building, Swimmer Hall, One University Drive, Uniontown.

Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, Chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee, announced the Committee session.  State Rep. Deberah Kula, D-Fayette/Westmoreland, requested the hearing and will serve as co-chairman. The current agenda is:

  • 10 a.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
  • 10:10 a.m. – John Walliser, vice president of legal and government affairs, Pennsylvania Environmental Council
  • 10:30 a.m. – Panel from the Marcellus Shale Coalition: Katie Klaber, president, Marcellus Shale Coalition, and Jeffery Kupfer, senior vice president, Atlas Energy
  • 11:10 a.m. – Terry Engelder, professor of geosciences, Penn State University
  • 11:30 a.m. – Eric Conrad, project manager of Oil and Gas Industry Partnership, North Central Workforce Investment Board
  • 11:50 a.m. – Closing remarks
