PEC Supports Restoration of Oil & Gas Lease Fund

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council supports House Bill 1500 (introduced by Representative Greg Vitali, Delaware County), which would restore use of Oil & Gas Lease Fund revenues for conservation, recreation, and flood control projects.

The Fund was originally created in 1955, with the purpose of ensuring that revenue derived from resource development on state land was reinvested in the Commonwealth’s conservation infrastructure. In recent years, the General Assembly has redirected Fund revenues to help balance the state budget.
