PEC sent the following letter on June 10, 2024, urging Members of the House Consumer Protection, Technology, and Utilities Committee to support enabling legislation for the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority (PEDA):
Dear Representatives,
I am writing to express the Pennsylvania Environmental Council’s support for House Bill 2338 (P.N. 3171), which would modernize the enabling legislation for the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority (PEDA). This legislation will be considered by the House Consumer Protection, Technology, and Utilities Committee on Tuesday, June 11th.
PEDA’s enabling legislation was enacted in 1982. House Bill 2338 would properly update PEDA’s ability to ensure Pennsylvania is able to maximize federal investment opportunities in energy development and job growth. As displayed in the Committee’s hearing last week, there is strong environmental, labor, and business support for this legislation.
We ask you to support House Bill 2338. Thank you for your consideration.
