On March 12, Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that the Environmental Protection Agency intends to undo dozens of critical environmental protections, including EPA’s 2009 scientific finding that carbon pollution threatens human health and welfare. PEC President Tom Gilbert’s response is below:
The announcement of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Administrator to roll back dozens of common-sense standards represents an irresponsible retreat from science and the agency’s fundamental mandate to protect our air and water. These changes, if carried out, will result in more pollution and extreme weather events threatening the health and safety of our families, unwind decades of bipartisan work, weaken our competitiveness, and harm our economy. We urge the members of the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation to oppose these dangerous proposals and maintain the environmental safeguards that protect the health of our communities.
