Our annual dinner in downtown Pittsburgh brings together our friends, partners, and local leaders for an evening of recognition for impressive people, projects, and places. This year we’re honoring 3 of our region’s leaders in reimagining Pennsylvania’s legacies, turning western PA into a destination for healthy land, clean water, and plentiful outdoor recreation!

Lifetime Achievement : Davitt Woodwell
Recently retired from the role of PEC President, Davitt spent his career engaging in Pennsylvania’s environmental legacies and working to change them for the better. Under Davitt’s leadership, PEC’s work has touched almost every environmental and conservation issue and spanned the entire geographic reach of the Commonwealth.
Trailblazing Community: Kane, PA
The entire town of Kane, Pennsylvania has spent the last decade working to revitalize and reinvigorate their home, known as “A Star in the Forest”. By embracing their proximity to outdoor recreation and improving both residents’ and visitors’ experiences, Kane is making itself a destination for anyone visiting the area.
Excellence in Partnership: Altoona Water Authority
After acquiring a formerly mined property for clean water management, the Altoona Water Authority began engaging state and local partners to transform the land. Thousands of trees have been planted for reforestation and a trail system plan is in the works for public recreation as the AWA continues to work addressing sources of water pollution from long abandoned mines.
