Ride For PEC! 2018 Environment Ride

Why Participate in the Ride?

As a statewide non-profit, PEC is a leader in trail planning and development across the Commonwealth. The Environment Ride supports PEC’s trail work.

 

Overview: On the Ride

On Friday, June 1, three-day riders will gather in Philadelphia and Doylestown for safety orientation to ride off to Reading on lesser-traveled roads through scenic (and hilly) Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Our overnight will be at the Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie PA for a relaxing “spa” night with jacuzzi and heated pool, as well as, a private cocktail and dinner event.

After a great night’s rest, we will ride out at 8:30 a.m. head towards Reading through the bucolic and historic Oley Valley arriving at the downtown DoubleTree on Penn Street. There will be time to relax at the hotel with dinner out on the town! Sunday, we will ride to Center City Philadelphia, following the winding Schuylkill River Trail through historic river towns to our Celebration Party sponsored by Yards Brewery.

The Sunday ride will depart from Malvern where one-day and three-day riders will meet up before a catered picnic lunch followed by an easy and scenic ride to Center City Philadelphia to the Celebration Party sponsored by Yards Brewing Company.

 

Fast Facts

• The 2018 Ride will begin in Doylestown to Bear Creek Mountain to Reading to Philadelphia
• PEC’s Ride is intentionally intimate; it’s a community of friends passionate about cycling and the outdoors.
• Accommodations are 3-star hotels, meals and beverages are all inclusive.
• The ride is van-supported by a crew of volunteers.
• The route is carefully planned to showcase the best scenery on the safest roads.
• Weekend training rides begin in late March (weather permitting).

 

Logistics

3-Day Ride
Riders may meet either at 30^th Street Station in Philadelphia or at SEPTA’s Doylestown Station to ride out from Doylestown, Pa. PEC will reserve a special “bikes only” regional rail car from 30th Street Station departing the morning of Friday, June 2, 2018.

1-Day Ride
Riders will gather the morning of Sunday, June 3, 2018 at either 30th Street Station or at SEPTA’s Malvern Train Station to ride out at 10:00 a.m. PEC will reserve a special “bikes only” regional rail car for the trip. One-day and three-day riders will all meet-up for a catered picnic lunch before the easy and scenic ride into Center City Philadelphia to the Celebration Party sponsored by Yards Brewing Company.

Crew & Volunteers
Volunteers are welcomed in many capacities: to support the riders with logistics, safety, and fun! Crew travel with the Ride, enjoying meals and overnight accommodations. Volunteers may also raise money for PEC without riding!

Teams
Share the love for Pennsylvania’s environment – form a team! Being part of a team is a great way to build support! Any group of three or more can ride together and share the experience from start to finish! You will have both an individual as well as a shared team fundraising account.

1-Day Rider
By Feb. 28, 2018: $40
Mar. 1 to May 20, 2018: $65
$400 fundraising minimum

Through May 24 only: $45, $300 fundraising minimum
