Restore Columbia County's Streams With a Tree Planting

April 30, 2016 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

Even though they are closed now, decades old mine sites located in the Weiser State Forest near Aristes remain nearly barren, and species like fish and insects can no longer survive in nearby waterways.

Pennsylvania has more miles of streams affected by abandoned mine land drainage than any other state and literally thousands of degraded acres needing to be reforested. It’s up to us to undo the damage! By planting trees in strategic areas, we can create habitat for native plants and animals and help restore water quality.
You can help! PEC is organizing an opportunity to plant trees on a former mine land site. Can you spare six hours to restore Pennsylvania’s forests? Family and friends are welcome, as every volunteer will make a difference!

Register here to volunteer.

What: Help PEC plant trees to restore dead streams

When: Saturday, April 30. Please meet us by 8:30 a.m.

Where: Weiser State Forest District office, 16 Weiser Lane, Aristes, PA 17920

RSVP: Let us know you’re coming so they bring enough equipment. Your phone number is required so we can get in touch with any changes and make sure you have everything that you need.
