Phoenixville Ethnobotany Tour

July 17, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Ethnobotany is the relationship between plants and people: how we use plants for food, clothing, medicine, dye, construction, and a lot more.

Join the Schuylkill River Towns and Dave Williams from the Schuylkill Canal Association for the Phoenixville Ethnobotany Tour, a guided tour of the plantlife found along the Schuylkill River Trail and paths around the former Phoenix Iron Works.

We’ll identify plantlife and learn about how they might have historically been used, and what our practical relationship is with them today. This is an easy walk on trails and dirt paths, but it is the middle of July – so bring a water bottle, a hat, or anything else that you think you might need to be out in the sun for a few hours!

Meet us underneath of the Gay Street Bridge (where the Phoenixville Farmer’s Market is held) adjacent to the Mill Street Parking Lot. Children age eight and up are welcome with adult supervision.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required: $5/person. Light refreshments will be provided.

Please email [email protected] with any questions.
