2020 Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council invites you to join us at the 2020 Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards dinner — now being offered in virtual format.

This regionally acclaimed awards program recognizes and honors outstanding achievements in a wide range of environmental initiatives throughout Western Pennsylvania, and pays tribute to those who have demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence, leadership, and accomplishment in their respective fields.

2020 Western Pennsylvania Environmental Award Winners:

Allegheny College is being recognized for its 13-year program to achieve carbon neutrality on its Meadville campus, becoming only the eighth college in the U.S. to realize this goal.

Organic Climbing/Nittany Mountain Works, an outdoor gear manufacturer that demonstrates environmentally-friendly business practices, including running its factory on 100% solar power, is being recognized for its enterprise-wide business practices that promote sustainable manufacturing, renewable energy, and reduce its environmental impact

Kenneth J. Rice, creator of the Lower East Side Community Garden, is being recognized for driving the redevelopment of blighted, trash-filled properties in the City of New Castle and transforming them into a vibrant community garden creating a positive, far-reaching ripple effect throughout the community.
