Lizzie Hessek joined PEC in 2013, bringing her international experience in community development to her work in greenways and trails. Professionally, she has worked on projects that developed solutions for social and environmental challenges facing communities in France, Brazil, Chile, and the United States. Hessek has also been an apprentice in a letterpress studio in Baltimore, a graphic designer in a museum near Paris, and a jack-of-all-trades at the Blue Mountain Center in the Adirondack State Park. Through her work at PEC she is able to pursue her passion for creating equitable access to natural resources and recreational assets for all Pennsylvanians.

Hessek holds a Master of City Planning and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania as well as a degree in Geography – Concentration Urban and Rural Planning from the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. She enjoys hiking the Appalachian trail and planning mystery parties with her spouse, Rachel.
