Kadafi El-Kardah joined the Pennsylvania Environmental Council in October 2017, based in PEC’s Southeast Regional Office. He is the Community Engagement Specialist, and is responsible for supporting PEC’s work with the implementation and adoption of green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) with a focus on promoting the Philadelphia Water department’s Green City, Clean Waters initiative.
Kadafi is passionate for the environment and Philadelphia’s architecture. He has been involved with many environmental projects in Philadelphia. Some of his work includes working for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) to survey the health of trees throughout the city and working for the Pennsylvania State University on a renovation research project at Bartram’s Garden. On his free time, Kadafi likes to explore historic buildings throughout the city. He enjoys taking pictures and learning about the history of each Philadelphia neighborhood. Kadafi is also very passionate about education. Along with his duties at PEC, he works with the Free Library of Philadelphia. At the library, Kadafi provides homework assistance and facilitates after-school educational activities for elementary school students.
Kadafi has a B.S. in Environmental Science and lives in Northwest Philadelphia.
