Paul King Announces Retirement in 2014

Paul King has announced he will be retiring as President and CEO of PEC by mid-2014, a position he has held for over five years.

King’s background includes previous leadership positions in environmental management and environmental law positions with PPG Industries, Inc; as the executive director of the nonprofit RiverQuest environmental organization; the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice and director of the Certificate Program in Environmental Law, Science and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He also served as Director of EHS and Risk Management at Duquesne University.

He has served as an adjunct professor of environmental management at Duquesne University’s Environmental Science and Management Program for 12 years, and as an adjunct professor of environmental law at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Law for 20 years. He has also been a member of the Department of Environmental Protection Solid Waste Advisory Committee.

King is also the past president of the Air and Waste Management Association, a past chairman of the Chemical Manufacturers Association’s Environmental Management Committee, a recipient of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Environmental Law Committee award for distinguished service to the profession in 2002, The Catholic Charities Caritas award as a champion of justice in 2003, and a lifetime achievement award in 2009 from the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice.
