A crowd of conservationists entered Lakeside Lodge at Scenic View at Laurel Hill Friday morning in “a raucous fervor.”
State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Park Manager Mike Mumau approvingly described the energy at the event, which was dubbed a “Gathering of Partners and Friends of the Laurel Highlands Conservation Landscape.” Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn was the keynote speaker.
Mumau said the participants were fulfilling the event’s purpose: They were connecting with each other, meeting new people, mingling and getting a chance to catch up.
“It (the meeting) gives us the opportunity on a very organic level to find out what other people are doing in conservation,” Mumau said. “It is extremely important to have opportunities to celebrate our successes, talk about some of our challenges and create some solutions to things.”
The conservationists in the room were “wired” to do just that, he said…
